SmartLearner Training Centre operates educational services
for a wide range of road users.
The courses takes place during term time one day a week. The course
gives young people aged 14+ a well rounded insight into all aspects
of the motor industry including history of the motor car, basic mechanics,
how to become a safe driver and driver theory.The course offers young
people a great experience and really prepares them to become confident
and safe drivers of the future. Learners are assessed through various
different methods including practical driving, portfolio work throughout
the course and a final exam.

Brake Projects
SmartLearner Training Centre support Brake, by operates educational
services for a wide range of road users. To give some examples, our
2young2die project provides education to young people in schools, colleges
and offender institutions about the dangers and damage caused by driving,
through workshops and online resources. We also run projects for nurseries
and primary schools
Safe Road user award
The aim the course is to build positive attitudes to road use and to
help young people to take responsibility for using the roads safely.
Young people who become proficient road users at an early stage will
be able to carry these attitudes and behaviours throughout life. This,
in turn, should result in fewer deaths and serious injuries among road
users The Award is targeted primarily at young people from 14 to 17
years of age, however it should be emphasised that it will be open to
all potential candidates irrespective of age.
NVQ's
All learners accessing our courses receive a 1-1 needs assessment in
relation to education and personal development. Targets are agreed between
the tutor and young person and are reassessed regularly. This is important
as it shows how an individual has progressed, gives them greater understanding
of their educational needs and increases their knowledge and develops
life and work skills
